Port McNeill to PEI and beyond — Day 1
Chris standing beside the very organized trailer we’re pulling behind the bike. It holds a tote for chargers & cords, a bag with dishes so we can make our own snacks & simple meals & 2 full sized sports bags. Throw in a first aid kit, maps and a few tools and we’re ready for all sorts of eventualities on the road.
Our first stop was the marina in Port McNeill for a photo at Mile Zero of our coast to coast trip. Next an essential pit stop in Sayward for breakfast at Skogan’s Diner. Another 10 out of 10 breakfast. Poached eggs on homemade bread with a side of bacon and hot coffee. Perfect on a chilly, drizzly morning.
There’s something about traveling on the motorcycle that lends itself to loud music with screeching guitar licks and drum solos. Jim Hendrix, Lynrd Skynrd, Johnny Cash, The Animals, Pink and a cast of others traveled with us down the highway. We are two retirees with ear to ear grins singing as loud as we want.
Next stop today was Cumberland to meet up with Colin, Sherry and their girls at the Wondering Moose Cafe. The cafe is an old post office built in 1907. Fantastic coffee !!
Not even pouring rain could dampen our spirits. We found an amazing invention — ordering pizza online to be delivered to our motel room. We’re tucked in warm, safe & sound for the night. Tomorrow we leave the island.

Hi Helen — hope all is well in Chilliwack !! Hard to believe it was 12 summers running the b&b and I will never forget watching you and hubby sitting on a rock down at the beach not wanting to leave. If we find ourselves nearby we’ll definitely let you know. We’re big fans of the International House of Pancakes 😃
