Windows to the world

A few months ago I finally gave in and joined Facebook.  I always thought it more of a young person’s website so kept ignoring the email messages from family & friends asking me to sign up.  Now just two months later it’s official folks — Hi my name’s Karen and I’m addicted to Facebook 🙂  So much fun !!  I’ve added oodles of pictures and quotes and love sending short silly messages.  It’s really wonderful to keep in touch with family & friends across the country as far away as Ethopia & Germany.  The reason I’m sharing this is to apologize for the lack of blogs the past few months.  Seems when I have a few moments to spare I’m facebooking.  Sorry Mom !!  With email, MSN, blogging and now facebooking it’s incredible I manage to find time for old fashion pursuits like reading a book.

What a gorgeous sunny day here on the beach.  My favourite kind of day with a delicious cool breeze blowing in the windows and I can hear the wind whispering in the trees.  Everything is so green and lush here.  Our garden plot out front is exploding with roses & our tiny little lilac tree finally bloomed this year.  Eventually we’ll get some warmer temperatures — I just walk around in short sleeves anyway as if it’s summer !!

The bed & breakfast is keeping us busy and close to home now. This spring we’ve had guests from Thailand, South Africa, England, Germany & Holland.  One morning the conversation really made me laugh — the guests were talking about BC marijuana.  Seems that “BC bud” has quite a reputation around the world.  Hmmm did I mention to the guests that their host is a Mountie?

The black bears are active and wandering the neighbourhood and we’re seeing otters, seals, eagles and herons regularly.  Most importantly it won’t be long before our beloved orcas start making their regular appearance.   Transients were spotted yesterday much to the delight of 4 of our guests who went out in very grey & drizzly weather.  Here’s hoping for a season with little bits of sunshine and lots of wildlife.  Blessings from the beach…
